Position: CDL Driver 

Location: Frederick, Colorado

Reports to: Superintendent

Exempt (salary) or nonexempt (hourly) position: Nonexempt

Full time position

Pay: $27 to $30 based on experience and qualifications 

Hours: Monday-Friday 7am to 5pm, with overtime and additional days as project requires.  

Summary

Centerline Energy Construction is hiring for the position of CDL Driver.  An employee in this position is responsible for loading and operating pickup trucks and dump trucks with different trailer combinations to haul sand, gravel, heavy equipment, pipeline materials, and other aggregate materials to and from job sites. They may also operate other vehicles such as semi trucks. This position will also require performing additional onsite labor duties as needed on job sites. Candidates must have attention to detail and strong communication skills. Most importantly, candidates must be safety conscious of themselves and everyone around them.

An ideal candidate will have 2+ experience as a commercial driver. They will be competent in driving heavy commercial motor vehicles and trailers. This is a direct hire opportunity with great benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Main roles and responsibilities are: [insert EOS roles & responsibilities]
  • Drivers will load and operate dump trucks that may be equipped with different dump trailers such as side-dumps, end-dumps, and flatbeds as needed.
  • Drivers will load and operate various sizes of pickup trucks, and possibly semi trucks, that pull various trailers hauling heavy construction equipment, pipeline materials, and other items.
  • Compliance of all Centerline safety policies and procedures.
  • Observe all traffic laws.
  • Must perform pre-trip and post-trip Inspections on trucks and trailers pursuant to DOT regulations.
  • Plan routes and meet delivery schedules as well as being flexible as schedule and time of shift changes.
  • Ensure all materials are loaded correctly onto truck and trailer before transporting to job sites
  • Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
  • Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
  • Must show constant awareness for personal safety, and the safety of co-workers, and all surroundings.
  • Collect and verify delivery instructions.
  • Report defects, accidents or violations.
  • Ability to utilize mobile device to locate pin drop delivery sites.
  • Creating and ensuring a positive, professional company image on the job site
  • Must be able to coordinate and collaborate with multiple personnel from the field to the office
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, have good teamwork skills and able to understand, comprehend, and follow directions in the workplace
  • Assist work crews with labor duties as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must have a class A CDL in the state of hire
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Minimum of 2 years commercial driving experience preferred
  • Must have valid medical Card per DOT standards.
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
  • Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)
  • Abide by all DOT requirements for commercial motor vehicle operations.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times
  • Must have a quality work ethic and be committed to optimum customer service

Work Environment

  • The work environment is mainly outdoors and driving both short and long distances
  • Workers will be required to use appropriate personal protective equipment, which may include respirators, fall protection, safety glasses, hi-vis clothing, hard hat, etc., as conditions, tasks, and requirements warrant
  • Work situations may include being in the presence of “rotating equipment” and energized equipment. As such, workers must be cognizant of ensuring that the equipment is “Locked Out” before working within machine guards or in proximity to energized components
  • Work situations include working on / near live utility lines such as natural gas, water, and electric lines
  • Workers may work on and near heavy excavation equipment, vehicles, and trailers
  • Work is regularly outside year-round and exposure to natural elements such as heat, cold, wind, and sun is to be expected

Physical Requirements

  • The essential functions of this position consist of spending long periods of time in the physical activities of standing, walking, climbing, lifting, carrying, twisting, kneeling, stooping, bending and crouching as required. This position also involves handling equipment ranging in weight from 1-100 lbs.
  • Work may be performed in adverse environmental conditions such as confined spaces, high and low temperature environments, adverse weather conditions, etc.
